A New Season at Two Inlets

A New Season at Two Inlets

As we head into a new season at Two Inlets, we wanted to share a few updates from the offseason and what we’re looking forward to this summer.

Ice-out always feels like the true beginning of the season.

The lake opened up on April 19 this year, and just like that everything starts to shift—longer days, a little more energy, and that feeling that summer is right around the corner.

Our offseason was a good one—and honestly, a little different than last year.

I (Kayla) really tried to be intentional about slowing down and recharging this winter. I still spent time at the school—subbing and helping with state testing—but kept my schedule lighter on purpose. It’s left me feeling really ready (and excited) heading into this season.

I spent some time learning this offseason as well—attending a few workshops and retreats—and I’m looking forward to pouring that energy back into the resort and our guests this summer.

I’m especially excited to be more present this season—planning a few mornings for coffee at the Lodge, spending time connecting, and getting back into the gardens to see what made it through the winter.

I’ve also stayed connected to the broader resort community this year, continuing work with the Park Rapids Chamber and alongside others who care deeply about places like this.

James has stayed busy too—mainly with his new hunting dog, Koda (a lifelong dream for him 😊). Koda is already loving the lake, but don’t worry—Thor is still very much running the show around here.

And the chickens have been doing their part as well—we added a new flock last spring, and they’ve been laying like crazy. We’re hoping to have eggs available for guests this season, which has been a goal of ours for a while.

We also went through a pretty big change this past year—moving across the street after turning our home into Cabin 11. We’ve been settling in, but we definitely miss being right on the water. It just means we’ll be spending even more time down at the resort.

Hadley (2nd grade) and Jameson (5th grade) are wrapping up the school year and already counting down the days until summer. They’re excited to be back in the mix—and Jameson has already been calculating how many hours he can work this season.

We were also incredibly honored to be named Resorters of the Year by the Community of Minnesota Resorts this year. It meant a lot to us, and honestly reflects the people who come here just as much as anything we do.

As we look ahead to summer, we’re starting to fill in across the season. There are still a few openings—especially in June and later in the summer—for those thinking about a stay.

We’re really looking forward to another season at the lake—and to welcoming so many familiar faces back.
